Pese a ser un nombre por todos conocido, dado su peso en los inicios del arte cinematográfico, lo cierto es que la obra de Georges Méliès, su contexto creativo, sus fuentes y las circunstancias en que creaba son bastante desconocidas para el gran público.

Algo que esta exposición viene a remediar, tomando acertadamente la forma de un recorrido lleno de trucos visuales similares a los que el viejo maestro ilusionista gustaba de poner en práctica en el escenario y en sus películas. 

Transparencias, montajes, dobles fondos, superposiciones y sobreexposiciones son, pues, las herramientas secretas que, pese a ser desveladas, como todo mago, parecen guardar aún hoy algo de su misterio.  

Despite being a household name because of his influence in the beginnings of cinematic art, it is true that the works of Georges Méliès, its creative context, its sources and the circumstances in which he created are vastly unknown to the general public. 

Something that this exhibition tries to deal with, rightfully taking the shape of a path filled with visual tricks, so similar to those that the old illusionist liked to use both in the stage and in his movies. 

Transparencies, montages, hidden compartiments, juxtapositions and overexposures are, those secret tools that, despite being unveiled, as in every true magician's work, still retain today some of its mystery.
