Uno de los placeres más inspiradores que el arte del barroco nos puede proporcionar es la admiración de la extraordinaria fuerza, talento y capacidad de algunos titanes que dio el Arte en esta época; como es el caso de Van Dyck.

Sin duda alguna, solo pensar que un joven pintor de apenas ventidós años fuese capaz de pintar, antes de esta edad, 160 cuadros, de gran ambición y formato, que incluso le llevaron a medirse e igualarse con su maestro Rubens, es vertiginoso.

 Es por ello que esta exposición prorrogada del Museo del Prado nos otorga una oportunidad sin par para enfrentarnos a la obra, el ejemplo y la ambición de un joven artista que terminaría siendo uno de los inmortales de la historia del arte por talento, trabajo y derecho propio.

No doubt, it is almost vertigo-inducing just to think that a young painter, barely 22 years old, had been able to paint, before this age 160 pictures of great ambition and format, and that he even could measure himself up with his own master: Rubens.

It is for those reasons that this exhibition at the Prado Museum gives us an unmatched opportunity to confront the works, example and ambition of a young artist that would end up being one of the immortals in art history in his own right.
