Uno de los momentos más especiales que, con el tiempo, he descubierto que tiene el proceso de publicación es la llegada de lo que hoy en día se llama, simplemente, "el original" o "las pruebas" y antiguamente se llamaban "galeradas".

¡Una palabra que espero que no se deje de usar! Sus reminiscencias a las galeras como prisión, a un carromato, y al oficio del impresor, el cajista, el tipógrafo, no deberían perderse. 

En cualquier caso, me encuentro disfrutando a lo grande de ese proceso: tachones, flechas, notas al margen, subrayados, interrogantes y dudas ortotipográficas, en suma, páginas y más páginas por revisar, y la emocionante sensación de que no hay vuelta atrás, que la novela pronto estará compuesta y que falta cada vez menos para que "Zíngara: Buscando a Jim Morrison" vea la luz. 

One of the most special times that, with experience, I have learned to enjoy in the publishing process is the arrival of something that, in Spanish, is called "the original", "the proofs", and used to be called "the galley proofs".

This word is almost not in use in Spanish anymore, but I hope it does not get lost in time. In my mother language, it reminisces about prison ships, covered wagons and jobs like printing, typesetting and typographic design. 

In any case, I am enjoying this process a lot: crossing out, drawing arrows, side margin notes, underlining, interrogation marks and typographical doubts: summing up, pages and more pages to check, and the thrilling sensation that there is no turning back, that the novel will at last be created and that there is very little time left for "Zingara: Finding Jim Morrison" to see the light.
